Let's Connect

Hi, I’m Mariamawit — a designer with a deep love for people, culture, and creativity.

I was born in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, and later moved to Northern Virginia, where I still live today. My curiosity about how people think and experience the world led me to study Cognitive Science with a concentration in Computer Science at the University of Virginia. Wanting to bridge that understanding with how we interact with technology, I pursued a certification in UX/UI Design through George Washington University.

I’ve always appreciated design, but it wasn’t until I discovered human-computer interaction and user-centered design that I realized it was something I could build a career around. I learned just how much intention and care go into the smallest details of the products we use every day — and I knew I wanted to be a part of that process.

My background is shaped by a range of people-first roles: I’ve worked as a tutor, marketing and communications intern, sales representative, freelance photographer, and hairstylist. Across all of these experiences, one thing has stayed consistent: I love working with people to bring ideas to life. Collaboration, listening, and empathy have always been at the center of what I do — and they’re at the heart of my design practice, too.

Today, I’m focused on creating inclusive, intuitive digital experiences that empower and reflect the people who use them.
